Local residents delighted to win Edmonton Green prize draw

  • Edmonton residents took first and second prize in a draw organised by Edmonton Green shopping centre
  • Prize draw acted as an incentive to fill in survey on improvements to the mall
  • Following feedback, improvements are now underway at Edmonton Green

Edmonton residents have taken first and second prize in a draw run by Edmonton Green shopping centre to discover what improvements local people would like to see to the mall.

Colleen Lambert of Cornwallis Grove was awarded with a £100 shopping voucher for winning the draw, while Vita Liutikiene of Chichester Road was runner up and took a £50 voucher. The delighted local residents were presented with their winnings at Edmonton Green by Sabri Marsaoui and Lynette Howgate who manage the shopping centre.

The winners were entered into the prize draw after they completed a survey on the type of improvements they would like to see to Edmonton Green. A pop-up consultation on the improvements was held in the shopping centre over four days in mid-February, to collect feedback from local residents and shoppers. Members of the public were incentivised to provide their feedback with the potential to win either £50 or £100 worth of shopping centre vouchers.

Feedback from the survey, which received 298 responses, found that lighting and security are the areas where local residents would most like to see improvements. A refreshed look and better toilet facilities were also high on the list, along with improved cleanliness and better play areas for children.

In response to this feedback, Crosstree Real Estate Partners who own the shopping centre, are already working to improve security by revising protocols, making security personnel more visible, and installing new CCTV cameras – this has already resulted in a 58% decrease in antisocial behaviour incidents since Crosstree acquired the shopping centre in November 2018.

In addition, works are due to commence in the coming weeks to improve the lighting, refurbish the toilets and thoroughly clean the shopping centre. The existing bins and benches will be replaced with a number of integrated seating / planter areas throughout the mall, incorporating wayfinding signage and bins. Meanwhile a vibrant open community square in North Square will be created featuring a new children’s play area, public seating, new planting and the addition of activation space. A new logo and branding is also being developed for the centre.

Colleen Lambert, winner of the prize draw, commented: “I’m delighted to have won; it was such a surprise as I don’t usually win anything I go in for! I was with my friend that day so I will share my prize with her – thank you very much.”

Sabri Marsaoui, Asset Director at Edmonton Green commented: “Congratulations to Colleen and Vita for winning the draw – it was lovely to meet them and present them with their winnings. We’d like to thank everyone who filled in a survey, either at the pop-up stand or online as the feedback was really helpful in informing us of the areas people would most like to see improved so we can focus our efforts.

“We are committed to the long-term future of Edmonton Green and look forward to working with the shopping centre’s existing tenants, the Council and the local community to support the growth and prosperity of this site.”
